Imperial Hydro Hospital for Officers, St Annes

About September 1917 the army commandeered the luxurious Imperial Hydro Hotel at St Annes to house convalescing officers.

The army commandeered the Imperial Hydro Hotel (later renamed The Majestic) to house officers. Ordinary soldiers were housed in guest houses, private homes or wooden huts.

The military initially intended to vacate the hotel February 1919 but didn't leave until July or August.

The Imperial Hydro at nearby Blackpool (no connection with this hotel in St Annes-on-Sea) was also commandeered by the military and renamed the Atlantic Hospital.
