Arthur
Stanhope Medrington opened an artists studio, about 1879, at
128 Bold Street, Liverpool. Two years later he was advertising
as a photographer at 33, Bold Street whilst living at 2, Tagus Street, Toxteth
Park. Sometime between 1882 & 1886 the studio moved to 29, Bold
Street.

Arthur Medrington joined with his younger brother, Charles Edward, to
create a limited company. Medrington's was registered as a Limited Company on
4th October 1890. Shareholders were members of the family and possibly some
friends. The first half-year dividends were 15%.

Medrington's also had a branch at 22a King Street, Manchester in the
early 1900s.
This appears to have been a succesful
photographic company which continued for over four decades. About 1936 the studio
moved to 61a Bold Street, Liverpool and the Medrington's was still listed
in directories in 1938.
