The True British Courant, or Preston Journal,
August 16th, 1745.
Preston, Aug. 16. Yesterday Morning there
fell here the most dreadful Hail Shower that ever was known in the Memory of Man,
which lasted upwards of an Hour without intermission; the Ground in several parts
of the Town was covered upwards of two Foot thick with Hail Stones, the shower fell
chiefly upon the Town, and did not extend much further.
